It is not easy to get lost here. The streets of New York from squares called blocks. Nearly all the streets are in the straight lines, running from east to west. Those from north to south are called avenues. Most of the avenues and streets have only numbers. The famous fifth Avenue is the dividing line between the east and west in Manhattan. Here you’ll see the Empire State Building. On the 102nd floor, over 1,400 feet above the ground, it is possible for you to see the area in which one in ten of all the people in America live. You can also look down at the other huge skyscrapers, the United Nations’ buildings, the Statue of Liberty(自由女神像) in the harbor, Broadway---the longest street in the world but not the straightest, and the greatest ships in the world’s biggest port.
